New Antisemitic Assault in Italy: The Jewish Observatory of France Expresses Deep Outrage
The Jewish Observatory of France strongly condemns the vile assault that occurred on July 27, 2025, at a highway service area near Milan (Villoresi Ovest), where a Jewish father and his six-year-old son were violently attacked, insulted, and beaten solely for wearing a kippah.
According to initial reports, the victims were immediately identified as Jewish by a group of individuals who hurled antisemitic slurs. The situation escalated when the father was physically assaulted in front of his child for refusing to delete a video documenting the incident. The victim filed a police complaint, and an investigation is underway.
This barbaric act, committed in broad daylight in a public space, is not an isolated incident. It is yet another alarming sign of the rise of antisemitism in Europe, fueled by a climate of normalized hatred and ideological blindness.
The Jewish Observatory of France calls on the Italian authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice and urges European institutions to finally recognize the grave threat posed by this persistent hatred. Being Jewish in Europe must never be a risk factor.
We express our full solidarity with the victim and his family and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to fighting antisemitism wherever it occurs.
